For if love rules your heart and truth guides your vision, You'll find order amongst chaos, oneness amidst division; If you would see God and this vision share, Just turn deep within, for God is already there; With each person I meet, may I recognize, The glory of God that shines forth through their eyes. New Poems for 05 Have you ever felt like you knew someone a long, long time ago,
Another place, another time, a friendship of the souls? Did they stumble onto each other by pure circumstance,
Or was it fate and destiny that played a certain hand? Somehow they are drawn together, fate has brought them back,
Each living worlds apart, they journey separate paths. A Friend's Greeting I'd like to be the sort of friend that you have been to me; I'd like to be the help that you've been always glad to be; I'd like to mean as much to you each minute of the day As you have meant, old friend of mine, to me along the way. I'd like to do the big things and the splendid things for you, To brush the gray from out your skies and leave them only blue; I'd like to say the kindly things that I so oft have heard, And feel that I could rouse your soul the way that mine you've stirred. I'd like to give you back the joy that you have given me, Yet that were wishing you a need I hope will never be; I'd like to make you feel as rich as I, who travel on Undaunted in the darkest hours with you to lean upon. I'm wishing at this time that I could but repay A portion of the gladness that you've strewn along my way; And could I have one wish this year, this only would it be: I'd like to be the sort of friend that you have been to me. It's Official: Britney's Pregnant After months of rumors — which began circulating even before she married Kevin Federline — Britney Spears has confirmed that she is indeed pregnant. The announcement comes just two weeks after the singer had criticized magazines such as Us Weekly and Star for running reports suggesting that her apparent weight gain could be mean that very thing. "The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together," Spears wrote on her newly redesigned Web site Tuesday (April 12). Star and Us Weekly have reported that the singer is three months pregnant, claiming that a recent visit to the doctor was for a sonogram. They've also noted that Spears hasn't been spotted drinking or smoking recently, and both have run pictures that appear to indicate that Spears has gained weight in her breasts and abdominal area. Spears recently responded negatively to the stories, which also mentioned marital discord (see "Britney Lashes Out Against Tabloid 'Liars' On Her Web Site"). To stop further speculation, Spears put another rumor to rest. "There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend," she wrote. "Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers." Spears' spokesperson confirmed that the letter from the singer is authentic and that her Web site had not been hacked. She had no further details "at this time." Ever since her wedding to Federline on September 18, 2004, Spears has written about her desire to start a family. In one such letter in November, she wrote, "A lot of people think you should wait till you're older to have kids. I've had a career since I was 16, have traveled around the world and back, and even kissed Madonna! The only thing I haven't done is experience the closest thing to God, and that's having a baby. I can't wait!" On the site, Spears has also shared her musings on motherhood (which she compared to cooking) and the kind of mom she'd want to be. "I thought I would never say this, but I love not working so much!" she wrote. "To be a really good mom, I feel your child needs to be your full-time job. I want to raise my kids and share all of those precious moments with them, and not rely on nannies." Federline already has two children with former girlfriend Shar Jackson: 2-year-old Kori and 8-month-old Kaleb. DMX Arrested After Triggering Three-Car Collision In New York DMX's trouble with the law took another unique turn on Friday when the rapper allegedly triggered a three-car collision in New York that involved a police car, according to Reuters. The rapper was driving on the Major Deegan Expressway Click here to find out more! in the Bronx late Friday night when his vehicle struck another car, sending it crashing into a police cruiser. Two officers and the driver of the first car involved in the crash were reportedly treated for minor injuries. DMX was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license following the incident, and was released shortly thereafter. The rapper and actor (real name Earl Simmons), has seemingly spent more time in handcuffs than on the charts of late, most recently for an incident at New York's JFK Airport in which he attempted to steal a car and, when confronted, claimed he was an FBI agent. The rapper pleaded guilty to those charges in December of last year (see "DMX Pleads Guilty To DUI And Reckless Endangerment"), but was arrested just over a week later on charges of driving with a suspended license, speeding and driving an unregistered vehicle after he was pulled over doing 104 in a 65 mph zone (see "DMX Arrested For Driving Violations - Again"). DMX has pleaded not guilty to those charges. DMX's trouble with the law took another unique turn on Friday when the rapper allegedly triggered a three-car collision in New York that involved a police car, according to Reuters. On Her Way Out, Nadia Turner Says Simon Cowell's Still Hot Miami's 28-year-old Nadia Turner was an early "American Idol" favorite whose raspy voice, spunky fashion sense and star quality had even Simon Cowell singing the praises of this onetime MTV VJ for a Day finalist. However, her unpopular Mohawk sent her to the bottom two three weeks ago, and her penchant for picking semi-obscure songs hurt her chances for recovery. After performing singer Crystal Gayle's "When I Dream" Tuesday, she was eliminated. MTV: Are you still glad you chose more obscure songs? Nadia Turner: I actually am. At the end of the day, despite the fact of where I'm sitting, I would have done the same thing over. Really it was about me singing songs that I'm passionate about and staying true to me, and introducing songs to millions of people that maybe hadn't heard them before. Maybe they would say, "Wow, I'm going to find out who sings the original" and just broaden their horizons. I was thinking about [Fleetwood Mac's] "Go Your Own Way" and then I was like, "You know what? I feel passionate about this 'When I Dream' song, it's something people haven't heard before. And I want to show them that." It probably would have been, in most opinions, the right song to do, but as soon as I start thinking about what the judges want to hear, what's gonna make them like me, that's when I steer away and say, "I'm gonna make them appreciate the art." MTV: You said before that Simon was your favorite judge because he's hot. Do you still think so? Turner: I still think he's a good-looking chap, but as far as favorite ... I don't know. MTV: What inspired you to do the Mohawk, and did you hear from Cyndi Lauper at all? I'm sure she was proud. Turner: It was funny, while [the producers] were trying to clear the publishing, Cyndi Lauper called one of the people that worked on "American Idol" and said she wanted me to do the song and was thrilled about it. Mario [Vazquez], when he was on the show, made it very clear he wanted me to try the Mohawk. He even went to look for banana clips so we could experiment with it. And lo and behold, I thought, 'This week I'm gonna do it. It's the perfect song. I can get away with it.' And people either loved it or hated it — there wasn't an in-between. MTV: Were you surprised to read in the gossip magazines that you and Scott Savol were a couple? Turner: It's like in six different magazines! What's that about? It's funny, I was out shopping and we had a bodyguard with us and Scott comes with me and this paparazzo comes out of nowhere and Scott is trying to veer me away from it and puts his arm around me saying, 'Let's get out of here.' And if you look at the picture, they cropped the bodyguard and we look like we're on a soiree. We're definitely good friends. There's nothing more. MTV: Will you return to your Christian rock band, Tool Box, or is a solo career your priority? Turner: I'll probably be doing both. As for the band, it's a local thing, we do it all over Florida, going to different churches. And I'll be doing my thing also, taking my career to the next level. Jackson's Lawyers Grill Boy's Mom; Judge Admonishes Both Sides Friday was the day Michael Jackson's lawyers were waiting for, when they finally got to face off with the mother of his accuser — a woman the defense contends is a con artist who coached her son to lie about being molested. And so the exchanges between Jackson's lead lawyer, Thomas Mesereau, and the boy's mother were testy, to say the least. During these exchanges, Judge Rodney Melville chastised both of them, admonishing Mesereau to act more professionally, telling the mother it was as much her fault as Mesereau's, and instructing the jury to disregard portions of the testimony since the woman chose to give short speeches instead of simply answering the questions. Defiant and combative, she accused Mesereau of being willfully "incorrect" and "inaccurate." When the mother said it was not her nature to be on the lookout for ways to make quick money, Mesereau shot back, "Oh, we'll get to the JC Penney matter later." When he brought it up again, the woman admitted that she had lied in a civil suit she brought against JC Penney, in which she claimed she was assaulted by a security guard and had received more than $150,000 in a 2001 settlement. Mesereau also pressed her on a sworn statement in which she said she hadn't been abused by her husband (which could have explained the injuries she blamed on the security guard), and she admitted lying about that as well, saying she was embarrassed about the abuse. (Her ex-husband pleaded no contest in 2001 to domestic abuse and pleaded guilty in 2002 to willful cruelty to a child; see "U.K. Reports Tell Story Of How Jackson Met His Accuser.") When Mesereau asked her about a video in which she's heard praising Jackson, she said it was scripted and that she wasn't very good at following the script, even though she met with Jackson's associates to discuss exactly what she would say. "I'm a poor actress, what can I say?" Mesereau shot back, "I think you're a very good one." When he asked her if what she said in the video was the truth, she shot back, "Do you call up Halle Berry and say, 'Are you Catwoman?' " When Mesereau asked the mother about the "killers" she had described on Wednesday (see "Accuser's Mom Says Jackson Scared Her With Talk Of 'Killers' "), he suggested instead that Jackson had been encouraging her to flee from the media, to which she explained Jackson had said the media was evil. Then, looking out at the courtroom audience, she said, "But now I know that's not the truth anymore." Bringing up the security guards she claimed would follow her around, Mesereau said they were offered to her and noted that she did not turn them down. "I never said yes," she fired back. At one point, in response to an unrelated question, she turned to the jury and said, pointing to Jackson, "I thought he didn't drink. How foolish I was. Now I know Neverland is just a place for booze, pornography and sex with boys." P. Diddy No Longer Has Total Bad Boy Control P. Diddy agreed Thursday to sell a 50 percent stake in Bad Boy Records to the Warner Music Group. The deal, reportedly valued at $30 million, would give the label joint control over the Bad Boy catalog, which includes three hit albums from Notorious B.I.G. and Diddy's solo albums, among others. Diddy will continue to serve as the CEO of Bad Boy, whose roster includes new boy band B5 along with Mase, Carl Thomas and Mario Winans. Neither side would comment on the terms of the deal, according to a Reuters report. The rapper/entrepreneur bought back full control of Bad Boy three years ago from Arista Records and in 2003 estimated that the label was worth $100 million. But Bad Boy's fortunes have flagged of late, with releases slowing to a trickle. Welcome Back, last year's heralded return of former platinum-selling rapper Mase — who gave up rapping in 1999 to join the ministry — fell flat. And a comeback album by New Edition has sold only 244,000 copies, according to SoundScan. The promise of cash and marketing resources from Warner Bros. could boost Bad Boy's output to eight to 10 albums a year, though, with the first release under the new deal coming from Atlanta rap crew Boyz N Da Hood, followed by the debut from B5. "There have been a lot of boutique record labels that come and go, and we're still here," Combs told the AP. "This has ensured for the next couple of years that we have the right financial backing, the right financial structure, the right partners to remain a force in the music industry." LFO Singer Rich Cronin Hospitalized With Leukemia Rich Cronin, lead singer of the now-defunct boy band LFO, has been hospitalized with leukemia. The 29-year-old was diagnosed on March 28 with acute myelogenous leukemia. The exact cause of the disease is unknown, but it is the most common "I'm praying every second that this will come out of me." — Rich Cronin type of acute leukemia in adults, according to the National Marrow Donor Program. Cronin is being treated at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center near his hometown of Boston. He went through his first round of chemotherapy last week and will soon find out whether or not he will make it into remission. "I'm praying every second that this will come out of me," he said. Cronin had been working on his first solo project since the 2001 demise of LFO, an Orlando, Florida, group best known for the single "Summer Girls." He began suffering from exhaustion and headaches in late February. "I started to feel tired when I would walk up stairs, and I would start getting pretty sharp headaches," he said. "But I never thought much of it, because I had always been a pretty healthy guy." After he was finished recording in New York, Cronin traveled back to Boston to visit his parents, who quickly became concerned about their son's health. The singer went to a clinic, where he was tested for hepatitis A. When the tests came back clean, the doctors said he was suffering from a virus. "They just told me to let it run its course," he recalled. Two weeks later, when he was still suffering from the same symptoms, Cronin's family urged him to see another doctor. The next day, he visited a family physician who told him he was suffering from mononucleosis. Cronin returned home to wait for the results of a blood test — but an unexpected call from his doctor at 10 p.m. jarred him awake. "The doctor told me, 'You have one-third of the blood [you need] in your body, and it's putting an extreme strain on your heart. I need you to get to the emergency room right now and I'll explain everything to you when you get here,' " he said. Cronin rushed to a hospital in Boston, where a series of tests were quickly performed. "Eventually, the doctor came in and said, 'There's no easy way to say this, Rich, but you have leukemia.' When he said that, it was like a train had barreled through the room. From that second, they've been treating me as a cancer patient." Cronin, who had enjoyed the glitz and glamour of his celebrity lifestyle, has a different outlook now. "In two weeks, this has completely changed my life and my perspective on it," he said. "The first thing you want to do once you hear the news is run, but you can't, because it's inside of you. You have no choice but to face it." The singer has found overwhelming support from his family and friends, some of whom he had not been in contact with for years. 98 Degrees' Jeff Timmons, Jordan Knight, members of 'NSYNC and his former bandmates Devin Lima and Brad Fischetti have all reached out to Cronin. Fischetti has been helping his former bandmate deal with legal matters. Cronin's insurance company is refusing to pay his medical bills due to a clerical error on their part, the singer said. "It's terrible. They're treating me like a piece of garbage." Cronin is currently paying the hefty bills out of his own pocket. In the meantime, Lima is encouraging LFO fans to keep Cronin in their thoughts. "With all of your love, support and prayers, he will pull through this," Lima posted on his Web site. Cronin hopes his decision to go public with his struggles will help other young patients suffering through the same experience. He said the proceeds of his forthcoming album will be put toward the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. "I'm scared to death at this point," he said. "It is a nightmare of a situation to be in, but I really want to make something positive out of this." Benzino Slapped With Sexual-Harassment Charges Just days after formally relinquishing his post as The Source magazine's chief brand executive, Raymond "Benzino" Scott, one of the hip-hop glossy's co-founders, has been named in court documents accusing him of gender discrimination and sexual harrassment. The documents were filed early Monday morning with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by two of the monthly's highest-ranking former female executives. Also named in the documents is CEO David Mays, who co-owns The Source with Scott. The documents accuse both men of committing gender discrimination, sexual harassment and unlawful retaliation against women. The action was filed on behalf of all current and former female employees of the magazine by former editor in chief Kimberly Osorio and former Vice President of Marketing Michelle Joyce. The charges follow Friday's announcement that Scott had resigned (see "Citing Eminem Feud And Other Reasons, Benzino Quits Source"). In a statement, Scott explained that he was tired of the legal wrangling with his nemesis, rapper Eminem, and felt the magazine had gotten too rigid for his liking. "Everyone is too politically correct," he said. "I plan on creating another magazine that has my voice which represents the little guy. It's because of the manipulation of SoundScan and radio that hip-hop is losing its edge." Monday afternoon, however, Benzino reconsidered his resignation, announcing that he would not be stepping down after all. According to a press release on the reversal, Benzino will continue to work "to make The Source bigger and better." According to the charges, female employees were constantly discriminated against on the basis of their gender, in favor of male employees — not only with respect to hiring and promotions, but compensation, benefits, working hours and discipline. Rather than hire or promote women, the documents claim that Benzino, who is originally from Boston, appointed members of his hometown clique to positions for which they weren't qualified, and that they rarely showed up for work. When these male employees made mistakes or failed to do their jobs, the filing says Mays and Scott would blame those shortcomings on their female supervisors and co-workers. In addition, the charges further claim that Scott and Mays yelled at, belittled and verbally abused female workers, and even fired or forced out many competent and capable female employees (Joyce was let go in January, and Osorio was replaced in March) for minor work-related indiscretions. It also claims that they consistently subjected female employees — from interns to the top brass — to degrading acts of sexual harassment. The alleged abuse was so widespread that many female employees hid in their offices to avoid being sexually harassed, according to court papers. "After dedicating five years to The Source, I could no longer endure the blatant gender discrimination and harassment, so I spoke up," said Osorio — who holds a degree from New York Law School — in a prepared statement. "But it only hurt the situation because I was fired shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, discrimination and harassment in the workplace is very common, and now I must speak out for all women who have been victims of this same type of treatment." "I chose to take a stand for women of the hip-hop generation and for all women who quietly endure such treatment for fear of retaliation and for those women who have suffered in silence and quietly surrendered," added Joyce. According to the filing, both Osorio and Joyce had complained about the discriminatory treatment of women at The Source, but those grievances were ignored. Rather than remedy the situation, the court documents charge Scott and Mays with showing them the door. Osorio, the magazine's first female editor in chief, was terminated just days after refusing to withdraw an e-mail she'd sent to the magazine's human resources department in which she complained about the treatment she and other female employees endured during their tenure, according to the charges. In addition, Osorio says in court documents that the magazine's work environment was both hostile and sexually charged. She states that women were chastised for speaking their minds and were threatened physically and publicly debased — both during and after their employment. Court documents claim that Scott fired one female employee, a senior member of the accounting department, because "all she does is walk around here with her big ass and pillow talk with mother----ers." Osorio also says in her complaint that women were repeatedly denied advancement at The Source, and alleges that Scott utilized the magazine to carry out his personal attacks on some of hip-hop's leading figures. More specifically, Osorio claims in the court papers that Scott ordered the magazine's editors to publish articles about Hot 97's Angie Martinez and the station's program director, Tracy Cloherty, which suggested both women were sexually promiscuous and "had advanced their careers in the rap music industry by having sex with many entertainers and performing certain sexual acts." In the office, according to the charges, Scott's objectionable behavior was commonplace. Osorio and Joyce witnessed Scott and other male employees sexually proposition, touch and try to kiss female co-workers. Scott once demanded that a female subordinate sit on his lap. He asked Osorio to have dinner with him on numerous occasions and even asked her to spend a weekend with him in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the filing claims. Scott also asked her personal questions about who she was dating and publicly boasted about his sexual conquests "with a number of prominent females in the rap music industry," according to the charges. In Joyce's complaint, she claims male workers placed bets on who would be the first of them to sleep with an intern. She also said a male employee, upon noticing she had a lollipop in her mouth, made inappropriate comments about it. "Osorio and Joyce have shown extraordinary courage in coming forward, and we will fully vindicate their rights at trial," said Kenneth P. Thompson, their attorney and a former federal prosecutor. "All women should be treated fairly and with the utmost respect whether they are in the world of hip-hop or not, and we will prove that in this case." Thompson said he will be filing a federal lawsuit in the coming months, and will be seeking class-action status for both suits. Filing discrimination charges with the EEOC is the first step in the litigation process that will ultimately result in a federal court action. The Source has issued a statement in response to the charges: "Neither of those women ever filed any complaints during many years of working at The Source. It raises a lot of questions when these types of charges are made subsequent to valid and legitimate terminations of their employment." The magazine's statement goes on to level accusations against Osorio and Joyce, adding, "Also, it is a fact that Osorio had sexual relations with a number of high profile rap artists during her employment as editor in chief. We also suspect that Joyce falsified health claims in an effort to attack The Source when she learned that she was going to be terminated. We look forward to our day in court on this matter." With her unique talent and signature vocal abilities, Mariah Carey commanded the world’s attention when she made her musical debut in the early nineties. In less than a decade, Mariah Carey emerged as one of the most popular and widely acclaimed talents in music. As a singer and songwriter, Carey has been recognized with the most prestigious accolades in the industry including two Grammy Awards, eight American Music Awards, Billboard's “Artist of the Decade" Award and the World Music Award for “World's Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium" to name a few. As the best-selling female performer of all time, Mariah Carey has continuously raised the bar and set the standard of excellence within the music industry worldwide. With a mother who shared both talent and a love of music, Carey was destined for a life of song having been named after “They Call the Wind Mariah” a melody from a popular Lerner and Loewe musical. From an early age, Carey demonstrated extraordinary musical abilities. She started singing at the tender age of four and her innate talent quickly progressed. While attending middle school, Carey began honing her songwriting skills and upon high school graduation she immediately left for New York City to pursue a lifetime ambition - her dream of a musical career. From the beginning, Carey’s luminous talent quickly distinguished her in New York and her vocals were in demand by a variety of artists. Her major break came while singing backup for Brenda K. Starr, who gave Mariah’s demo tape to then Sony Music Entertainment Chief Tommy Mottola. Soon afterwards, Mottola signed Mariah to her first recording contract with Columbia Records. With a fresh-face and angelic allure Mariah exploded on the scene with a signature style that displayed a vocal intensity that had never been seen before. Released in 1990, Carey’s self-titled debut was an immense hit, firmly establishing her as one of the most talented artists in the industry. The album which spawned an extraordinary four #1 singles: “Vision of Love,""Love Takes Time,""Someday," and "I Don't Wanna Cry," led to two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Vocalist. Carey continued her success with a series of singles from Emotions and MTV Unplugged albums that consistently placed her at the top of the charts. With the 1993 release of Music Box, which included the chart-topping hit singles "Dreamlover" and "Hero," Carey produced her most commercially successful album to date going an astounding ten-times platinum. Carey soon hit yet another career milestone with the release of her first holiday album Merry Christmas, which contained the instant classic "All I Want for Christmas is You." Over the next two years, Carey continued her relentless chart domination with the album Daydream (1995). Daydream’s “Fantasy” single debuted at number one, making Mariah the second artist in history and the first female performer to accomplish that feat. The album’s other single, "One Sweet Day" (recorded with Boyz II Men), stayed at the top of the charts for a mind-blowing 16 weeks. Carey followed with the Hip-Hop and R&B infused Butterfly which introduced a new chapter in Mariah’s career teaming her with the hottest names in the music business such as Sean Combs and Missy Elliott. A true testament to her longevity, Carey released #1’s, a compilation of her chart-topping hits in 1998. The album also included a new song, "When You Believe" (from the film “The Prince of Egypt”), a duet with Whitney Houston, pairing two of the most successful female recording artists in Pop history.Rainbow, with its chart-topping hit "Heartbreaker," followed in 1999 with startling success. Always at the top of her game, the ever-thriving Carey sparked the interest of the Universal Music Group's Island Def Jam Records who in May 2002 signed her to an exclusive recording contract. Later that year, Carey made her Island Def Jam debut with the release of the multi-platinum Charmbracelet. After more than a decade of hits that include the staggering success of 15 #1 singles, Carey will release her most revealing album to date, The Emancipation of Mimi, in April 2005. Entirely written and co-produced by the gifted Carey, her tenth studio album is an intimate portrayal of both the challenges and successes that she experienced during her rise to unparalleled fame. Carey explains the inspiration behind her new album, “With this album, I am embracing my independence and celebrating the person that I have become. Over the years, I have evolved into a better person and an even better artist. For the first time in my life, I am proud and unafraid to be who I really am, and that's what the music of this album and its title reflect. By naming my album The Emancipation of Mimi andreferencing ‘Mimi’ a nickname only used by those closest to me, I am inviting my fans into my life.” A brilliant artist who has co-written every song on each of her albums since 1990, Mariah Carey has consistently shown her willingness to express herself both as a remarkable vocalist and an acclaimed songwriter. The Emancipation of Mimi offers more than a glimpse into Mariah’s world featuring tunes like the heartfelt “Circles” and “Fly Like a Bird,” with their positive messages of affirmation and hope. While being honest and vulnerable in expressing her emotions through songs like “I Wish You Knew” and “Joyride,” Mariah leaves no doubt that she is a woman who speaks her mind. The infectious, edgy “It’s Like That,” co-produced by Jermaine Dupri is the album’s first hit single and a definitive statement of where Mariah stands at this point in her life, and isher fastestclimbing single in five years. Mariah and executive producer, Antonio “L.A.” Reid (Island Def Jam Music Group Chairman), approached the creation of The Emancipation of Mimi in a very specific way delivering ballads like “We Belong Together” (which pays homage to the Bobby Womack classic “If You Think You’re Lonely Now”) that her fans have come to expect while evoking a new sound that will surely broaden her appeal and capture an entirely new audience. The Emancipation of Mimi marks “the return of the voice.” As an artist who has paved the way for a host of emerging talent throughout the years, Mariah is set once again to redefine the heights of musical success with her incomparable talent and timeless appeal. With a refined and sophisticated new look indicative of her artistic evolution, she is poised to conquer new territory. Consistently evolving musically, personally, and creatively Mariah will re-assert her claim as the best-selling female performer of all time with The Emancipation of Mimi. As an artist revered worldwide, her boundless talent and success is unmatched across the globe. Apart from her musical achievements, Mariah Carey’s depth of person stems from her love and support of children in need; evident through her continuous involvement in a host of charities dedicated to ensuring their happiness and well being. Mariah is devoted to such charities as The Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Fresh Air Fund, Save the Music, and The National Adoption Center to name a few. With an unwavering effort through appearances, concerts, and donations to these organizations, Mariah has raised millions of dollars. Her generous involvement and on-going support of the Fresh Air Fund resulted in Camp Mariah, the fund’s first camp named in honor of an individual. Always willing to offer her “best” self to others, Mariah has not only established herself as a talented artist, but also as a sincere kind-hearted individual worthy of the world’s acclaim. cant wait for the new album it's like that and we belong together are great songs Apr 3, 2005

LYFE Life is what this alternative rhythm and blues artist delivers to the world. A celebrated singer/songwriter/producer, Chester "Lyfe" Jennings, a 26 year-old Toledo, Ohio native and self-taught musician plays the guitar, bass and piano. Lyfe incorporates these and other live instrumentation into most of the tracks he produces. To date, Lyfe has over 200 songs in his catalogue, and is set to release his highly anticipated debut album on Sony Urban Music, Lyfe 268-192, summer 2004. Lyfe's original folk/R&B/hip-hop style and Sam Cook/Al Green reminiscent voice, profess an intellectual stream of elevated consciousness. Songs like, "She Got Kids", "26 Years, 17 Days" and "Stick Up Kid", broadcast street life for the world to absorb. Lyfe's romantic side emerges in love songs like, "Must Be Nice," and "I Can't". "I say the things that people think about but won't say," comments Lyfe. It's this level of honesty and originality that has already won him worldwide fans of all ages in markets such as Europe, Japan, and throughout the U.S. Lyfe's musical career began as a young boy in a church choir in Toledo. Music was his soul's escape and soon led him to join The Dotsons, a young group that infused the talents of Lyfe's two cousins and older brother, Jay, then after heading in separate directions in the early 90's, Lyfe found his love for music again while serving time in prison. "Deeper situations tend to lead to deeper music and prison was one of those deeper situations. (Music) gave me an opportunity to express emotions in an unemotional environment." He began to play the guitar, sing, write and even started a music program in the Ohio institution. Upon his December 2002 release he began seriously pursuing his solo career. He spent his 2nd day of freedom recording a 4 song cd and the 3rd day performing at a club. By January 2003, Lyfe had showcased his talent to a nation-wide audience on "Showtime In Harlem" (The Apollo). He received a standing ovation for his acoustic performance of original material, and made his mark by winning the amateur competition five times. "I felt blessed just knowing that atleast somebody appreciated my struggle, my experience and my life." During his success at the Apollo, Lyfe began to independently sell his EP "What Is Love". Two songs from the EP, "What Is Love" & "She Got Kids" , garnered regular spins at local radio, which aided in the sale of thousands of EP's. To add to Lyfe's success, calls began to pour in from countless agents, promoters and record labels, which prompted the Ohio native to move to NYC to make his dream come true. Soon after Lyfe arrived in New York, he wrote and co-produced a song for a major label, made a cameo in a music video, appeared in publications and performed many solo shows and opening acts for major recording artists, including the most memorable opener in front of a sold out crowd @ Radio City Music Hall for Hip-Hop star Nelly, and his spontaneous serenade to New Yorkers during the October 14th blackout @ The Cafeteria in Chelsea. Other noteworthy venues and events include 2003 NBA All-Star events, NAACP Convention where he performed "Thank God for the NAACP" (an anthem he wrote for the organization), world famous B.B.
